Back to worship at Belfairs - January 2021 update

Thank you for your continued support over the Christmas period, I am sure that for  those of us who attended worship we have each been truly blessed.

It is important to note that we have now moved into ‘tier 4’ covid restrictions at Belfairs and, at the strong recommendation of the Southend and Leigh Circuit Leadership team, all worship in this circuit should be moved onto ‘on-line’ platforms i.e., via zoom or you-tube services with the exceptions of funerals and weddings. As and when further guidelines are issued changing the circumstances, we will advise you via our pastoral team contacts and any other form of communication suitable.

So when we are able to return to worship, can I remind you to book your seat with me each week for the foreseeable future (telephone: 01702 521344), in order that I can ensure adequate space is available for us to meet safely.

I have noted below some of the key guidelines which we need to observe for our weekly worship:

  • When you turn up on the Sunday morning, we suggest the earliest should be 10.45a.m. Please make sure that you have your face mask with you as it is mandatory under both government and Methodist church guidelines (unless you have medical exemption). Please ensure you have a drink with you if you need it as the kitchen is still out of bounds, also have any books that you wish to use as bibles and song books are not currently available within the church.
  • When you arrive your name will be added to the ‘track and trace’ register and hand sanitiser will be available for you to use. A steward will then direct you to your seat for the service. Please observe social distancing guidelines whilst on the premises.
  • The service should be 30/40 minutes approximately in length, please note there will be no singing during worship. A retiring collection will be taken at the end of the service, a steward will host a basket in the foyer.
  • At the end of the service you will be encouraged by the church steward to leave the premises via the front foyer where hand sanitiser is available for your use. Please avoid stopping to socialise on the premises in order that we can continue to meet covid guidelines.

Although these guidelines may appear to be harsh, they are all laid down for your health and safety. Please listen to the stewards who are here to help and we would ask you to honour these guidelines whilst these trying times still affect each one of us.

Many thanks

Mike Spaull

Senior Church Steward
