The Boys' Brigade motto is:- Sure and Steadfast
Our Boys Brigade Company at Belfairs has now been running for over 40 years and has four different sections for different age groups. Our main goal at the Brigade is the development of our youth helping them to achieve a true Christian manliness. We meet on Mondays during term times and put on a range of educational and fun activities for our boys. These can range from going over to Belfairs woods to arts and crafts in the church. We also run weekend meetings with other local companies from games nights to trips out to mega zone. We also have an annual summer camp where both the girls and Boys Brigade have the chance to come away for a week for fun and activities.
The anchor boys section is for boys from school reception up until year two of school. The section is run by Barry, Pat & Janice and the boys learn a balanced programme consisting of five zones:
- Body - Fit for fun
- Mind - Think & do
- Spirit - God & me
- Community - Me & my world
- Creativity - Make and do
The anchor boys are asked to wear a special uniform consisting of a red top with a BB badge along with their normal school uniform however the uniform is not compulsory. During their time the will be able to work towards anchor badges helping them learn life values of work and reward.
The junior section is for children ranged from 8-11. The group have a very wide range of activities all aimed at making new friends, learning new skills and most important of all having fun! As well as the adult leaders, older boys from the company and senior section regularly help out to organise fun games and activities that all the boys can enjoy. The boys are also asked to wear a blue BB shirt and also have the chance to earn special badges and awards for their hard work and dedication the company.
