Welcome to Belfairs Methodist Church.

"Where old friends meet and strangers feel at home.

Rev Clifford Newman

I am a retired Methodist Minister (called a Supernumerary) after 25 years as an active Minister in a wide variety of situations.  Since retirement in 2015, I have assisted this Circuit as a cover for shortfalls, all in a part time capacity.  In addition to Circuit Ministry, I was a part time Prison Chaplain for 8years and District Synod Secretary for 5 years.

Prior to becoming a Minister, I worked for over 20 years as  Senior Mechanical Services Design Engineer primarily on medium to large building projects.

My wife Linda and I both were born and raised in Portsmouth and have been married for 49years. We have 3 children all married and 6 grandchildren ( although one is now an adult).

I love walking although nowadays it more limited in scope from when I was younger.  I like most sports and am considered to be competitive. I also like puzzles, classical music and learning new things especially about Science and Geography.

I look forward to learning and sharing with you during my time here at Belfairs Methodist Church.

Every Blessing Clifford

There is something going on at Belfairs for everyone, from our Parent & Toddler Group, through 10 O'clock club, Girls' & Boys Brigades, to  A.C.T.I.O.N group.  We cater for those who just want / need to sit around for a chat with Coffee Mornings and House groups to the more active with our Badminton Club.

Belfairs is also known for the four "F's" - Fellowship, Fun , Flowers & Food.

Whatever the occassion there is always plenty of fellowship, fun and laughter at Belfairs. I dare you to come along and prove us wrong! Everyone is made welcome at Belfairs and new friends soon become old friends.

If you're unsure of walking into a crowded church, as a new face, pop along to one of our monthly coffee mornings first. There's always someone to talk to who will make you feel welcome.

Whenever there is a special event (and sometimes when there's not) there's always plenty of wonderful food on offer.  From homemade cakes at Thirsty For?? and some of the coffee mornings, to bar-b-que's, afternoon tea, and occassional lunches. Look out for other occassions when we serve  pancakes and brunches at special coffee mornings.

We have a number of ladies who are gifted at flower arranging and, most Sundays, there is  a wonderful display of flowers which are then distributed to those who are ill or in need of a 'lift' that a bouquet of flowers brings.

We really look forward to seeing you!
